YORK City face a tricky task if they are to improve their poor record in the LDV Vans Trophy.

Today's draw handed them a trip to Lincoln City for a first round clash to be played in the week beginning October 21.

Mid-table Lincoln have made a decent start to the season and Terry Dolan's men will need to be at their sharpest if they are to end their miserable record of going out of the tournament at the first hurdle in each of the last five seasons.

Aside from failing to reach round two since the 1996-97 season, City have not scored a goal in the competition since 1998.

Improving Scarborough will entertain Conference leaders Doncaster

Twelve sides from the Conference were in the hat and Barnsley, Macclesfield, Brentford and Cardiff received byes into round two after an earlier draw.

All ties will be settled on the night with golden-goal extra time and penalties if necessary.
