St Peter's School's ever-improving rowing section will be the envy of their rivals on the river with their new boat.

The school have named their new four-man craft after former pupil Helen Austin after her success at the Commonwealth Rowing Championships.

Austin, who learned to row while at the school, won a bronze at the championships as she continues her rise up the rowing ladder.

The 21-year-old, who returned to St Peter's School to launch a new boat, has represented Great Britain at the Junior and Under-23 World Championships, but her success at the Commonwealths is her best to date.

And after completing her biochemistry degree at Imperial College London, Austin is now aiming to go professional.

"I am looking for a place in the senior Great Britain crew," said Austin.

"It was lovely to see all my old teachers again and to meet the current students who are rowing.

"Hopefully they will get as much pleasure out of it as I do."
