THE force was definitely with Clifton Without School as they lifted the first football silverware of the season.
The School won the Parent-Teachers' five-a-side competition contested by 18 schools at Copmanthorpe School.
Clifton Without countered from a half-time deficit against Ralph Butterfield School to take the trophy in a 2-1 win after a brace of Eddie Clapham goals.
In the semi-finals Clifton Without had seen off Osbaldwick 1-0, while Ralph Butterfield went to extra time before accounting for hosts Copmanthorpe 2-1.
The four group placings and results were:
Group 'A': Copmanthorpe 11 points (goal difference +4), Robert Wilkinson 9 (+9), Park Grove 8 (-6), Tang Hall 6 (-4), Skelton 6 (-3).
Group 'B': Clifton Without 8 (+5), Lakeside 8 (+2), Woodthorpe 4 (-2), Dunnington 3 (-5).
Group 'C': Ralph Butterfield 9 (+4), St Aelred's 4 (-1), English Martyrs 4 (-1), Appleton Roebuck 4 (-2).
Group 'D': Osbaldwick 9 (+5), New Earswick 7 (0), Clifton Green 5 (-2), Riverside 3 (-3).
