FOOTBALL indiscipline has to be nipped in the bud to stop the problem escalating.

That's the view as the new season of schools' football kicks off.

The most worrying aspect of last season was the growth in player indiscipline - bad language, persistent appealing, threatening behaviour.

Tackling the problem should not be left solely to the member of staff who is refereeing the game.

Players should be withdrawn immediately by staff if they are breaking the 'code of conduct'.

The secondary school teams' leagues are as follows:

Under-12 NE: Archbishop's, Burnholme, Canon Lee, Fulford, Huntington, Joseph Rowntree.

Under-12 SW: All Saints, Lowfield, Manor, Millthorpe, Oaklands, Tadcaster.

Under-13 (Jubilee): Archbishop's, Canon Lee, Fulford, Manor, Millthorpe, Tadcaster.

Under-13 (Jorvik): All Saints, Burnholme, Huntington, Joseph Rowntree, Lowfield, Oaklands.
