A PASSING motorist saved a woman who was dragged from her bike and threatened for money by a gang of youths near a York hospital.
Police said the woman was riding along the lane towards Bootham Park Hospital, off Bootham, when five bike-riding youths blocked her path.
"They pulled her from her bike and demanded money, but a car drove up and the youths fled empty-handed," said Sergeant Colin Ventress.
"The woman was left shaken, but unhurt."
One of the youths was said to be wearing a light-coloured baseball cap, while another was said to be bigger and older than the other four.
The incident happened at about 8pm last night. Anyone with information is asked to phone the police on 01904 631321.
