For the first time in the history of the event there was a tie in the 113 peg River Ure Championship on Sunday.

One of the joint winners fished on the deeps and the other in the streams. Thanks to sponsorship from Ripon Interiors both anglers pocketed £400.

Undaunted by an unfancied peg in Foxtons Field, Cliff Lofthouse (Ripon) set about peg 73 with caster feeder.

Fishing the far side with double caster he netted 11 chub and some perch at intervals for his 30lb 12oz.

Top weight on the streams came from peg 140 below Bell Banks Gravels. Kevin Moore (Leeds) used waggler and maggot for 16 chub plus dace.

After two chub early on he had to wait for a hectic last two hours to put most of his fish in the net.

Pat Adams (RSPS Tekneek Trabucco) had 10 chub on stick float and maggot from peg 211 on the run off below Hutton Beck for his 25lb 12oz

Others: Fred Hardcastle (Elton Tackle) 17-10-0; Steve Hodson (RSPS Tekneek Trabucco) 17-0-0; Keith Appleton (Ripon) 14-3-0

Former Matchman of the Year John Bradshaw (Sensas Garbolino) scored his first win on the North Yorkshire Oaks complex, winning Sunday's 60-pegger on Maple Lake.

Drawn on peg 33 he fished cat meat down the track at 7 metres. His winning net of 52lb 8oz put well clear in a tight match and included many small carp plus four bonus fish of around 4lb apiece.

Dean Smith (MAP Elton) got his Kamasan assault back on track from peg 30 taking 48lb 10oz of small carp on pole and pellet fished tight to the island.

The rest of the chasing pack were tightly grouped with over 40lb needed to win every section.

Best of the rest were: Ray Singh (MAP Elton) 15-0-0; Tony Hewson (Armley Angling) and Andy Gallant (Armley Angling) both 14-4-0.

Darryl Taylor scored his second win of the week and the first for new team Daiwa Goldthorpe in Saturday's 67-entry match on Skylark and Partridge.

Drawn on Skylark 7 he pole fished home made paste made with minced luncheon meat and green Swimstim groundbait. Offering his concoction over the same groundbait he netted carp to 4lb at 7 metres for his 60lb 7oz.

The same bait accounted for carp to 7lb for Mark Coyne (MAP Elton) from Partridge 16. He fished at 6 metres for his runners up net of 60lb dead

Others: Simon Wood (MAP Elton) 57-0-0; Ray Singh (MAP Elton) 54-11-0; Mark Vanderkamp (Sensas Garbolino) 50-0-0; John Allerton (Tricast Whizzo) 49-6-0.
