BUDDING York poet Naomi Elliott has been selected out of 6,000 poets to be a runner-up in the Foyle Young Poets of the Year award.
Naomi, aged 17, from Fulford, is a student at York College and was studying creative writing alongside her A-levels.
She was entered into the competition, run by the Poetry Society, by her tutor Carole Bromley, who is also a published poet.
Naomi, who is one of 85 runners-up, will attend a prize-giving ceremony on National Poetry Day, which is October 10, at the National Poetry Library in London. Naomi has also been selected in a national young poets' competition to have her work printed in the literary magazine Rialto.
