JUNIOR golf was to the fore at the Aughton-based The Oaks GC, where its seventh annual junior academy was staged.
The course was planned, organised and supervised by club captain Steve Forsey with the help of his wife, Carmel, son James, the Oaks' lady captain Jenny Sharp, vice-captain Sheelagh Stevenson and committee member Jeanette Barker. The children were under the tuition of club professional Joe Townhill, aided by two single-figure handicapped juniors, Craig Johnson and Ed Nutt.
Current Oaks' junior captain Phillip Dobson was crowned junior club champion.
Playing off a handicap of four he is also an active junior member at Selby GC.
Meanwhile, last year's club champion and junior title-holder for the last three years, Ben Field, who plays off one, won the Royal Birkdale junior open championship.
