BEVERLEY will be the place to be tomorrow afternoon as the course joins forces with the Malton Racing Association Stables Open Day, which is expected to attract hordes of enthusiasts to the North Yorkshire racing town throughout the morning.

Twenty stables, housing more than 500 horses will be open from 9am until 1pm and, with the first race at Beverley timed to start at 2-10pm, racing fans have a full day of action lined up. Furthermore, visitors who have attended the Open Day will be able to take advantage of a £2 entry concession into Beverley's Tattersalls enclosure.

Desert Orchid, Jodami and Uncle Ernie, who will take pride of place as superstars of yesteryear during the morning, will travel on from Malton to Beverley and will head the grand parade on the course, which will also include two of Peter Beaumont's current stars, Hussard Collonges and Bobby Grant, plus another popular pair of old-timers, Toogood To Be True and Brodessa, both prolific winners in their day.

Fittingly, the Malton Racing Association Handicap is one of the six races on the card, though it may not be won by a horse trained by one of the association members.

Preference is for Red River Rebel, trained near Barnsley by John Norton, who has finished a rock-solid second on his latest two starts. Tomorrow could be his opportunity to shine.

The £11,000 John Smith's Nursery is the feature race on the card, and Warren Place, trained by Neville Bycroft, is napped to take advantage of his favourable high draw.

The juvenile has run consistently well all season without getting his head in front, but is long overdue a winning turn.

James Hetherton has good prospects of getting his name on the scoreboard with Swynford Pleasure (5-00), while Henry Cecil, who is experiencing a quiet campaign, can enjoy a lift with two winners, Desert Heat (2-40) and Lesath (4-25).

At Goodwood, Medeena is fancied to show a clean pair of heels to her rivals in the EBF Maiden Fillies' Stakes. John Dunlop's two-year-old showed plenty of promise on her debut and will be wiser this time.

Pacific Paddy, a dual-winner this season, can oblige again for Ian Balding in the Ecotek Cleanburn Nursery, while Lady Zonda can supplement her recent success in the Britannia Rescue Rated Handicap.

Milton Bradley could be the trainer to follow at Yarmouth. The sprint specialist has prospects of a double, courtesy of Currency (3-25) and The Tatling (4-00).
