A WORLD record-holding daredevil wing walker is set to be just one of the airborne attractions to thrill the crowds at the Evening Press sponsored 2002 Yorkshire Air Show.
Helen Tempest, who is a member of the Utterly Butterly Flying Circus, not only holds the wing walking world record, but is the world's most experienced wing walker.
Helen's act sees her undo her safety straps, climb out of the plane's cockpit and walk around the wings while she is high in the air.
Event director Ken Cothliff said spectators are in for a treat.
He said: "They give an amazing portrayal of pre-war barnstorming, it really is a sight to see," Ken said.
The show, which is due to take place at Elvington Airfield on August 25 and 26, offers a packed line-up.
Highlights Ken picked out include the Sea Vixen, which is the biggest jet plane in private ownership, and the Chalifa aerobatics team, making only their second appearance in the UK this year.
He said: "The Sea Vixen is the sole airworthy aircraft of its sort. It is big, it is noisy, it is great fun to see.
"The Chalifa team's visit is a big thing for us. Their displays are spectacular, and people might recognise the planes after one of their type appeared in the James Bond film, The World Is Not Enough."
Ken added: "Another high point will be our old friends the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight. The Lancaster, Spitfire and Hurricane will be at the airfield all weekend.
"The three aircraft in display always bring a lump to the throat, and the Lancaster is temporarily the world's only air worthy one, as the Canadians recently crashed theirs."
