CRESCENT cruised to a 5-2 York White Rose Ladies League victory which severely dented Sun Inn's chances of the division one title.
Sue Scrimshaw was the Sun's main resistance, taking her singles and a point with Judy Williams.
But outstanding for Crescent was Milly Mountain, who gamed in 21 darts.
Leaders Fulfordgate shot five points clear with a 6-1 win over Railway Institute. Beryl Glover recorded an excellent 20 darts, while Rose Blower-Janet Parker prevented the whitewash.
Kate Wilson took the 4-3 match win for Winning Post over Six Bells, and Joan Woodcock gave her Tap and Spile skipper Judith Stark the chance to get a 4-3 win against New York, whose best game came from Rose Grimes.
Fulford Conservatives went three up against their division two rivals Coach and Horses. But the latter drew level with Maggie Adamson, June Mallory then Jill Clapham. Even so, Fulford fought back with Michelle Harrison winning the decider to join Coach in second place.
Slipper, the leaders, won 5-2 at Deramore, Pat Drake winning well, while Lord Collingwood took closer order with a 5-2 win at Bowling Club.
Irene Bowes-Donna Dwyer (76 finish) took their game in 24, and Yvonne Broadhead secured the match in 23. For the losers Dot Houlden had a splendid 19-darter.
Bottom-placed Bowling Club beat Clarence 4-3. Margery Clapham put the scores level and Carol Tragni tagged on the decider.
Alice Hawthorn, Nun Monkton, lead division three, but Audrey Horner was called upon to settle a hard 4-3 fight with Tramways.
In second place Lord Nelson beat Tankard 5-2, Hilary Geldard taking the match winner, while Crystal Palace lost valuable ground when failing to contain Brown Cow.
Chasing much-needed points King William had Val Bell making it three apiece and Irish Haigh grabbing a last-game victory at Nags Head, Askham Bryan.
Martyn Turner was in superb 17-dart form for Clifton 'A' in York Atlas Auto Services League division one.
The 'A' team took all the singles against house rivals Clifton 'B' to pressure leaders Bay Horse 'A'.
Tap beat Volunteer within the singles which saw a 180 reply from Paul Botterill, while Tony Raymond took Bishopthorpe's only point as Slipper wrapped up an 8-1 win.
The top two teams in division two went head to head with Six Bells coming out victorious against Crescent 'A'.
It was all square after the singles until Bells moved up a gear to take the pairs. Phil Good-Phil Richards were the match-winners, Jamie Radford starring for Crescent 'A'.
Dave Loftus closed on 100 in his singles then partnered Brent Conland to seal the 5-4 win for Ebor against Burton 'A', whose S Allen showed up well.
Crescent 'B' came back from behind to run out good winners against Fulford Arms, Stan Isaac setting the standard.
Paul Shaw was Yearsley's only point scorer as the division three leaders fell to Hospital Social Club, whose Simon Johnson (180) was outstanding.
Puss 'n' Boots' push for promotion was given a boost with a fine 6-3 win at Burton. Mark Thornton hit the tons and was well backed by Julie Stewart.
Mike Kearney and Nick Harteveld shone for Mount in their 5-4 win against Indoor Bowls and Winning Post recorded the same score over Bay Horse 'B'.
The Blind Drawn Pairs Competition will take place next Wednesday at Yearsley Grove (8.30pm).
It's level pegging between Shepherd and Golden Slipper at the top of the York Phoenix League.
A 110 finish for 17 darts from Rob Platt concluded a 7-0 win for Slipper against Lord Nelson. Platt had previous support from Paul Partridge, who included a 109 finish in the team game. He followed up with 18, then 20-dart singles wins and Russ Turpin included a 21-darter.
Mick Willsden displayed excellent 15 and 19-dart form for Shepherd against Lord Collingwood, whose Paul Kennelly was the only point scorer. Paul Botterill sealed the win and Owen Legg notched 180.
Bishopthorpe SC tightened their grip on third place with a 6-1 win at Red Lion. Chris Platt recorded a fine 111 finish, Tony Raymond got among the tons and Jim Kelly won well to clinch victory.
Acomb showed Phoenix how to finish. Sean Robinson-Terry Featherstone collected the latter's only point.
Finals and presentation night will take place on Friday, September 20 at Bishopthorpe SC.
