A 32-year-old man charged with the manslaughter of a York woman has been remanded in custody.
Peter Nigel Loche, a fixed tenant at the Arclight Centre, Leeman Road, was denied bail by York magistrates.
He is charged with causing the death of Sally Ann Cockerill, 41, of Clifton, and supplying an unknown quantity of heroin, a class A drug.
Both offences are said to have occurred on Monday, July 29.
Mrs Cockerill was found dead in a tent pitched on derelict ground in a York car park by police officers in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
Loche, who is unemployed, spoke only to confirm his name, address and date of birth.
The defendant, who was represented by Phil Brown, was ordered to appear at York Crown Court on Monday.
