A FORMER Terry's director, who spent most of his working life in the chocolate industry, has died aged 90.
Friends say Robert Kenny, who lived in Skelton, near York, was a keen golfer and bridge player who loved to broaden his abilities. In his seventies he learnt computer skills, and fulfilled a life-long interest in the Stock Exchange by setting up a successful online portfolio.
The London University chemistry graduate joined Terry's chocolate factory in 1963, and worked there as director of research and development until his retirement 14 years later.
Prior to his York post, the Lancashire-born worker was based at Fullers Chocolates in London, where he was a director.
He served in the Second World War in the Royal Army Service Corps, where he attained the rank of Major.
He fought in the D-Day landings and Burma and was mentioned in dispatches.
Mr Kenny, of Skelton, who died at York District Hospital last Wednesday, leaves a wife, Rosemary, and daughter, Amanda.
His funeral will be held on Wednesday at St Joseph's Church, Burdyke Avenue, York, at 2pm.
