by Kirovski, beaten a whisker in the John Smith's Cup at York earlier this month, heads to Sussex tomorrow in a bid to go one better on the first day of the Glorious Goodwood Festival.
The Peter Harris-trained gelding lines-up for the Littlewoods Bet Direct Summer Handicap, the curtain-raiser to the meeting, and will have the assistance of Willie Supple as he aims to gain his second win from three starts this season.
Kirovski's only defeat on Knavesmire was inflicted by local hope Vintage Premium, who lifted the richly-endowed honours in a photo-finish, which also included third-placed Leadership.
Although he just failed to gain the main prize, Kirovski deserved plenty of credit at York, because, unlike Vintage Premium and Leadership, who both had the benefit of low draws, he was drawn wide, which can be the kiss of death on the 10-furlong Knavesmire course.
Richard Hannon has his horses in cracking form, and his two-year-olds in particular are in rude health.
Hannon saddles Baron's Pit in the Gerrard Investment Management Richmond Stakes, tomorrow's principal race, and Richard Hughes' mount is fancied to take all the beating after scoring with a touch more in hand than the margin might indicate when pipping The Bonus King by a head in the Norfolk Stakes at Royal Ascot.
Mark Johnston is sending a large raiding party to Goodwood and the Middleham trainer is fancied to score with the unplaced Derby contender Bandari in the Peugeot Gordon Stakes, while Reviewer, two-from-two this season for Hughie Morrison, can complete a hat-trick in the ladbrokes.com Prestige Handicap.
At Beverley, Jamie Spencer renews his association with Johnson's Point, trained by Mick Easterby, in the Lucy Bell Silver Wedding Anniversary Handicap.
The Newmarket jockey had Easterby in raptures when riding a crackerjack of a race to win narrowly on Johnson's Point at Doncaster recently.
Spencer also teams-up with Absent Friends in the Ladies Day Here on 14th August Classified Stakes and John Balding's sprinter is napped to take all the beating.
Just denied by Strensall at Catterick last week, after the pair had drawn clear of their rivals, Absent Friends can step-up on that display this time.
In the Dorothy Laird Memorial Trophy for lady riders, amateur and professional, Lynsey Hannah can take the honours on Rutland Chantry, a course and distance winner.
