I AM trying to find someone who was a close friend during the Second World War when I served in the Royal Air Force at bases around York.
I met a young lady named Emma Marshall whose home was in Rockingham Avenue and who worked at Rowntree's factory.
Her age at that time would be approximately 18. We remained good friends until I was posted overseas, towards the end of 1943 and lost touch. I wrote to her from Singapore in 1946, to the Rockingham, York address, to inform her I was coming home for demob and could we get together again. I never received a reply so I assumed she had married and was happy.
Now I am hoping to find Emma to tell me how life has treated her during those many lost years.
