A RED Arrows Jubilee celebration brought thousands to witness their only North Yorkshire display this year.

The country's most famous aerobatic team jetted over Elvington Air Museum, near York, for a 20-minute show.

And it included new formations devised specially to mark the Queen's 50th anniversary.

Ian Richardson, of the museum, said: "One of them was a wine glass formation, which they have only started to do this year.

"There were several thousand people turn out, which is always the case when the Red Arrows are featuring, and they seemed to thoroughly enjoy it.

"The Red Arrows were spectacular, but there was a lot more to see and do."The display was part of the museum's Airborne Show which remembers the airborne forces of World War Two.

The Red Arrows usually visit Elvington for the annual Great Yorkshire Air Show, held later in the year.

But this year they will be in Canada as part of the Queen's Jubilee Tour.
