TADCASTER Magnet are the new leaders of Hunters the Estate Agent York and District Senior League division five after their draw against fellow promotion hopefuls Malton & Old Malton.

Mike Alford hit 73 and PeterMacNamara an unbeaten 32 as the Brewers pouched the maximum batting reward at 208-8.

In Malton's reply John Dunning made 50 and Dave Bradshaw 47, but Steve MacNamar (3-52) and John Weatherhill (3-46) sent Malton close to defeat at 175-9.

Thorp Arch lost top spot when beaten by 53 runs at home to Selby. Andy Hullah made 49, Richard Firth 55 not out and Geoff Robert 34 in Selby's 168-7. Matt Warrilow then made 34, but Carl Patterson, with 4-35, helped dismiss the hosts for 115.

Sessay gained their first win of the season, crushing bottom-placed Bolton Percy by 137 runs. M Shuttleworth hit 80 and Stuart Robinson 51 as Sessay amassed 236-9. Kieth Till then took 4-17 to prevent Bolton gaining any batting points with a total of 99.

Carlton Towers overhauled visitors' Thirsk's 207-5 in the last over. Ed Willey hit 61 for Thirsk. Darren Graves and Steve Watson shared an opening stand of 123 in 34 overs for Carlton. Watson and Kevin Waites added 72 for the second wicket.

Andrew Chandler, who had conceded fewer than 60 runs in his 22 overs, had the misfortune to bowl two wides in his 23rd-over and this enabled Carlton to win by eight wickets with three balls to spare.

Watson, who had failed to reach double figures in any of his previous outings this year, came good with an unbeaten 74.

Former Pocklington first team skipper Andy Inns hit a century against a Rowntree side whose catching left a little to be desired.

Full details of the game have not been received, but Pocklington past 200 for the loss of six wickets.

Rowntree number three Andy Main was at the crease at the end of the first over for the second successive week and repeated last week's feat of batting 44 overs for a draw at 100-8.

Christian Soulsby (4-55), Darren Winters (5-57) and Mal Foster scoring 51 were the stars as New Earswick won their top of the table game with leaders Hovingham to go top of division six.

Thompson made 56 for Hovingham, who suffering their first defeat of the season. New Earswick past his Hovingham's 159-9 for the loss of three wickets.

Tim Jarvis hit an unbeaten 106 and Dave Turner made 53 for Civil Service, who won at Londesbrough Park, who were bowled out for 64, Lawrie Cieslik taking 6-10.

Stillington were surprisingly beaten by lowly Cawood. Miles Taylor who hit an unbeaten 86 in Cawood's 194-5. Kevin Borwell, returning to Stillington's ranks, responded with 79, but Bob Taylor took 4-63 and Miles Taylor 3-30 to dismiss Stillington for 155.
