Tadcaster Magnet have more wins to their credit than any other side in the whole of the Hunters the Estate Agent York and District Senior League after recording their eighth triumph by beating Harrogate in division two.

Tom Durance made 57 for Harrogate, who reached 171-7 in their innings. Paul Clark worked through a 22-over spell to gain 5-80 for Magnet, who went on to win by five wickets after Mick Ransome (74) and Chris Malthouse had built a second-wicket stand of exactly 100.

Stamford Bridge lost a little ground when Scarborough held out for a fairly comfortable draw after the Bridge had reached 235-6.

Stuart Boyle sailed past the 500-run mark with an unbeaten 97 and had good support from Andy and Paul Milner, who both made 32. Rob Harrison had 3-57 for the Seasiders, who nevertheless found themselves facing a total of 235-6.

In their reply, Dave Morris and Kevin Theobold both made 51 and Andrew Welford chipped in with 26. Boyle completed a satisfactory day at the office by taking 3-51 to restrict Scarborough to 186-7

The game at Bridlington was a one-sided affairtas the home side's overseas star Hafix Khalid virtually single-handedly destroyed Bubwith.

The Pakistan 'A' team team player firstly took 4-22 as Bubwith were dismissed for only 101 then he followed his unbeaten 149 of the previous week with 79 not out as Bridlington lost just one wicket in their victory march.

There was cause for celebration at Savile Park, where home team Castleford gained their first win of the season to move off the bottom of the table above their beaten opponents Clifton Alliance II.

Chris Elliott made 26 in Clifton's 126 as Mick Bourke captured 4-19. Castleford's runs then came from Pete Hatfield (25), Anthony Daniells (39) and Dan Carnell (31), who helped record a seven wicket triumph.

Old East Yorkshire Cup rivalries were renewed when Malton & Old Malton travelled to the Hollis Recreation Ground at Hornsea.

Doug Grebenhouw missed out on reaching the 500-run mark when he fell 14 by being dismissed for 36, but Dave Prescott was in good form in making 89 and Richard Medforth also prospered with 63. For Malton, Tony Linsley took 3-31 and Danny Foxton 3-41.

Former Duncombe Park player Andrew Raines then steered Malton to a draw at 175-7 with an unbeaten 54, while 15-year-old medium pacer Mark Trice impressed on his first team league debut by taking 2-27 in nine overs.

Wilberfoss have recovered from a moderate start to move into the top half of the division and continued their good form with a seven-wicket win at Studley Royal.

The former Nidderdale League side were taken to a first innings total of 155-9 by Anthony Mackle (49) and Mark Sowray (42).

Two bowlers had identical figures for Wilberfoss with Mike Stothard's 4-48 being matched by second team skipper Des Healey who had the same return.

When Wilberfoss batted, Dave Gilbertson hit 45, leaving Geoff Room to make 49 not out as their side won by seven wickets.
