York and North Yorkshire RL Service Area earned a good 20-16 win over Kirklees SA in an excellent match.
Y/NY got off to a good start as second row Billy Parker made good ground and Danny Allan laid off for Ross Divorty to score, but Kirklees levelled through scrum-half Oliver Broadbent.
Y/NY winger Stirling McCarrol received a long pass out wide to romp over, then Divorty made the break and fed Sam Millward, who gave the scoring pass to Allan for a try and conversion.
Kirklees hit back on half-time through centre David Clayton and the conversion made it 14-10.
On the restart, man of the match Divorty snapped up a loose ball to outpace the defence over 40 metres, Allan adding the extras.
Kirklees then capitalised on a lapse as full-back Ryan Heeley sprinted 80 metres for a try and conversion, but Y/NY held on.
Y/NY under-15s came up against a strong Kirklees side and lost 50-6.
They contained the hosts for long periods but in between conceded nine tries and seven conversions.
Early in the second half, Matthew Derry scored N/NY's only try from a switch move, with Tom Dunmore converting. N/NY's man of the match was scrum-half Paul Nicholson.
