WHAT a disgusting welcome to our beautiful city is extended to visitors choosing to park their cars at the St John's Street car park in Lord Mayor's Walk.
The pathway which leads from the park to the street passes the near-derelict toilet block which the city "cannot afford" to keep open and maintained.
They also have to pass a rubbish bin which is frequently overflowing and a footpath which hasn't been swept in the many months I have been
passing by.
I see that the latest edition of About York, the glossy publication filled with City of York Council propaganda, tells us that their "award winning" street cleaning team is now newly equipped with brightly- coloured bin trolleys and mobile phones for even better service.
Whoever is responsible for directing their efforts should call them and send them round to the St John's car park toilets area from time to time.
Or is it a case of "out of sight out of mind"?
