PREPARING to throw a few wellies around, whatever the weather, are students at York College, which will hold its annual community fun day on Saturday afternoon.
The day will combine charity stalls, traditional summer fete activities and some alternative attractions organised by different groups of students. As well as welly-throwing by the child studies students, hair and beauty students will be doing manicures, pedicures and make-up demonstrations, and media make-up students will be providing "battle-wounds".
Art and design will be selling artwork, and fashion will be having a clothes sale. Sport and leisure has planned a penalty shootout competition, and there will be different international activities organised by modern language students. The construction department will sell stone products, such as rockery stones, and there will also be a science sale.
All the York College stalls will donate their proceeds to St Leonard's Hospice.
The event will run from noon until 4pm at the further education site in Tadcaster Road.
