YOU asked: 'Does the honours system need reforming?' (The thing is - June 18). While the honours have widened to include contribution to the arts, music and sport, it would appear the selection is shrouded in secrecy.
There are those who would like to see more ordinary people who have given of themselves, their time, efforts, in some way included - for example, foster parents who have reared a considerable number of children. But the system still appears elitist and hierarchical.
