STUDENTS from the Czech Republic, Finland, Germany, Lithuania, Mexico, Norway, the Netherlands, Poland and the USA are in York for a week-long visit to York St John College.
The delegates are in York for a symposium on Peace, Justice and Human Rights and to discuss education, cultures, conflicts, citizenship and politics.
Today the delegates were visiting primary schools in York and tomorrow they will go to the University of York for lectures and workshops on Citizenship.
They have also visited Bradford and Leeds and will be visiting Whitby on Friday.
Margot Brown, national co-ordinator for the Centre for Global Education based at the college said: "This is an opportunity for young people from across the globe to meet, mix and learn from each other.
"They will take away a wider understanding of other cultures and issues which they have in common.
"They will use this in their studies and future work."
This is the 11th symposium on Education for Peace, Justice and Human Rights, and it has been held in several different countries since the first bi-annual event in 1982.
