SHERIFF Hutton beat Fulford Ladies Invitation Tennis League division four leaders Wistow 59-49.

Lyn Minto and Jill Hodges gave Sheriff Hutton a good start when winning 8-4 and then Sandra Meads and Ellie Batty played a splendid second round to win 9-3. Debbie Hamilton and Pauline Hull weighed in with a 9-3 success to complete Sheriff Hutton's victory.

Pam Lockman and Elizabeth Boville collected 30 games as Sutton on Derwent beat Pocklington 63-45.

Wheldrake gained their first win of the season, beating Strensall to move off bottom spot.

Catherine Smith suffered a leg injury in the first round when Fulford were three games up against Wigginton and so Fulford had to conceded 33 games. Wigginton went on to win 69-39.

Tadcaster, second in division one, were 41-31 up going into the last round at Poppleton, who won 21 games and fell just short of victory. Sheila Stuart and Lorraine Pearey, Tadcaster's No 1s, won 21 games in their side's 56-52 success..

Dunnington moved into third place with a 70-38 win over Castlegarth, who had to concede 18 games after Dot Mackintosh retired injured in the second round.

Bubwith's Anna Airaksinen withdrew injured in the match against Fulford, who won 76-32.

Civil Service beat second-placed Selby to go clear at the top of division two. Anne Jackson and Dernise Wilson won 24 games as did Wendy Cook and Jackie Ritchie.

Appleton Roebuck gave themselves a boost by beating Bishopthorpe 62-46, Marilyn Almgill and Anthea Brogden being top scorers with 24 games.

Cawood are still seeking their first league point after losing 68-40 to Poppleton. Pat Mackellor and Dee Robinson had a 10-2 win to give them 23 games.

Karen Hornby and Kathy Pickard won 24 games as division three leaders Copmanthorpe pipped Dunnington 55-53.

Michele Warren and Jenny Tongue won 7-5, 11-1, 8-4 as Riccall beat Strensall 71-37 to move into second place. Sue Warren and Jenny Alstead were unbeaten and took 23 games.

Castlegarth are the onloy unbeaten side in division five but Poppleton are chasing them hard after a 79-29 win over Knaresborough. Linda Moore amnd Margaret Evans won 10-2 in the first round, Kath Parry and Sue Wilson won 10-2 in the second round and then Steph Baron and Bo Orman completed the match by winning 12-0.
