AFTER a campaign of almost uninterrupted gloom there were gleaming broad smiles in the Broad Acres today.
Yorkshire not only got back to winning ways in he Norwich Union League, the reigning county champions revelled in the return of strike bowling hero, Darren Gough.
The pace ace - bedevilled by knee injury since the winter - has undergone two operations since in a bid to reclaim his England and Tykes' places.
But he returned to the swing of things for the Yorkshire Academy in the Oxbridge ECB County Premier League game against York CC at York's Clifton Park arena on Saturday.
Though not bowling at full-tilt Gough still manged a creditable return of 2-14 from seven overs, while also adding 18 runs with the bat.
His senior team-mates meanwhile were boosted by the return from international duty with Australia of captain Darren Lehmann.
He top-scored with a typically rampant 70 to lead Yorkshire Phoenix to victory over Durham Dynamos.
