The table-topping clash in division three saw leaders Sewerby thrash second-placed Heworth by nine wickets as they look to gain promotion in their first year in the league.

Heworth skipper Graham Hogben made his side's best score with an unbeaten 37, while Ian Nottingham (33) helped them to 145-7.

Sewerby lost an early wicket but Steve Foster (46no) and Mike Artley (78no) made no mistakes.

Heslington had the better of a draw with Civil Service in a game which saw 497 runs scored for the loss of just ten wickets.

There were two century stands in the Heslington innings as they moved to 263-3 with Ryan Elliott hitting 68, Chris Dower 66, Mark Fratson 43 and Robin Cockerill an unbeaten 55. A nap hand of Service batsmen then made runs as they replied with 234-7. The fluent five were Fraser Clarkson (33), Nick Olney (53), Chris Johnson (52), Dave Raper (26) and Dave Randall (34).

There was an exciting end to the game at Londesbrough Park where visiting Whitkirk gained their first win of the season when they got home by three wickets in the last over.

Phil Curtis was unbeaten on 89 and Chris Barlow made 40 as Park notched 190-5.

Whitkirk's Danny Stone followed his 3-58 with 46 while John Colley made 44. Rob Sawyer (5-78) seemed to be bowling Londesbrough to victory but Dave Clark made an unbeaten 33 for victory.

Both sides collected full batting points when Hovingham suffered a five-wicket defeat at New Earswick despite a century from Stuart Prest. Nick Elliott made 36 before Prest progressed to an unbeaten 120 in Hovingham's 218-6.

Andy James then replied with 95 and Andy Freeman aided with 69. Will Lund took 3-63 but Earswick won with 222-5.

Yapham's promotion challenge received a set-back when they suffered their first defeat of the season.

They were totally outplayed by Cawood for whom Richard Nicholson turned in a stoic performance by hitting an unbeaten 74 and then capturing 4-24.

Other Cawood runs came from Rob Wood (49) and Stuart Robson (35), who joined in a 93-run stand, while Nicholson's bowling support was provided by Nigel Bartram (3-38).

For Yapham, Barry Pearson played a good innings in making 49 but had scant supprt as Yapham fell to 117 all out.
