KEITH Chapman states that one of York's biggest assets, the River Ouse, could be used to ease congestion on our roads (June 19).
One of the most congested roads in York is Fulford Road which serves, among other things, the Park & Ride at the Designer Centre at Fulford. So why not use the Ouse to bring in the passengers who use Park & Ride buses at the moment?
This would necessitate the construction of a short canal from the River Ouse to the car park at the Designer Centre, which I would guess is about 1,000 metres long and across an open field.
Then Mr Chapman's idea of a ferry between York and Hull and points in between looks more realistic.
