JIM Hawksby threw 140,100,100,123 then 38 finish to record a fantastic 14-dart York John Smith's Mixed League game, writes Dave Fotheringham.

However, his Beeswing side were beaten 5-4 by Huntington whose Rich Plummer-Tracey Farmeary clinched the win.

John Smith included 19 darts as Queen defeated Leeman 'A' 7-2 and Leeman 'B' lost by the same score to Slipper 'B', but had a fine 104 finish for 21 from Derek Smallwood.

Slipper 'A' strode to victory against Three Tuns whose only point came via Steve Knights.

Tracey Farmeary earned a tilt at the women's individual title when making the semi-finals line-up with 20 darts to beat Lyn Thompson (Cygnet) and 24 then 17 against Angie Hields who included a 180 score.

Michelle Britton (Queen) was one down to Leeman's Caroline Turbut then produced 100,180,140 in a brilliant 15-darter to level. Britton won the decider in 24 and two 24's took out Sharon Neads (Cygnet) who also gamed in 24.

Dawn Exton (Cygnet) and Sarah Jackson (Cygnet) make up the last four.

After beating Derek Smallwood, Barry Noble (Slipper) had to dig deep to overcome Beeswing's Jim Hawksby. However 19 then 16 darts booked a place in the men's semi-finals.

Huntington's Rich Plummer gamed in 20 to oust Paul Mizon (Cygnet), but Cygnet's Dave Mason came good with two 19s to beat Dean Smallwood after taking out Tap's Kevin O'Hara who looked "laid on" with 180 for 15 darts. Mason gamed in 21 darts.

Cygnet's Mark Hartley missed bullseye for the maximum 170 finish, but won in 19, then checked 124 for 21 darts to eliminate Dave Gibbons.

Hartley then beat Paul Partridge with 23 and 15 darts and despite 19 darts by Pete Leake (Queen), Hartley replied with two superb 17 darters.

Cygnet 'A' turned on the style to beat one of their York John Smith's Men's League rivals 7-2.

Keith Turner (19), John Mooring (180 for 21), David Mason (21) and Mark Hartley (180) put Cygnet well in control, although, for the second week running, Poacher's Lee Brundrett-Shaun Day recorded a 23-dart 701.

Mark Addinall-John Holden sealed victory for Horseman at Bootham Tavern, while division one leaders Shepherd sparkled against Osbaldwick. Mick Willsden checked out 160 to game in 15 darts, both Kev Walton (180) and Owen Legg (100,100,100,140) finished in 16 darts, then Dave Gibbons won in 18.

Derek Bell included 180, while Pete Langan-Alan Shipley clinched a 5-4 Dringhouses victory at Swan.

Sun's 7-2 win against Tree, who had Darren Hoban shooting out on 130, was instigated by Chris Thompson's 16 darter.

Division two leaders Shepherd were held to 4-4 by Old Ebor, but John Dykes-Mark Mason came up with the decider. Rich Saville was a 180 scorer.

Ken Moment partnered Steve Forth to take a last game win for Institute 'A' at Vaults and Institute 'B' similarly had Kev Fallowfield-Simon Schofield snatching the decider from Cygnet 'B'.

Gordon Foster found 100,125,100,120 to game in 18, but Flag floundered in the closing stages and Pete Ella (180)-Kev Richmond jnr saw Slip home for a ninth game win.

Green Tree 'A' team's 8-1 over Sun 'B' included a 106 finish from Kev Pallister.

Bay Horse consolidated their top spot in York Atlas Auto Services League division one with an emphatic 8-1 win over Slipper. Allan Galley was in fantastic 180 for 14-dart form and was well back by Rich Corner (21) and Dave O'Hara (20). Slipper's only point came from Trevor Platt-Ian Johnstone.

Tap had Jim Wallis notching two maximums and Darren Bailey out in 20 in their victory over Acomb SC, whose Mike Harris included a 20-darter. Cygnet took all the singles which included a 105 finish for 21 from Paul Lane at Volunteer whose Dave Johnson was a maximum scorer.

Frank Brown scored well to secure the aggregate point for Huntington who lost 5-4 to Bishopthorpe SC whose best was Tony Raymond.

The battle for honours in division two hotted up with the top three teams all recording victories. Crescent 'A' just beat Fulford Arms 5-4, while Six Bells beat Woolpack by the same score. Clifton 'C' won within the singles.

Reindeer went 3-0 up but Howden Arms hit back and won 5-4, while Ebor lost ground on the leaders, going down 6-3 at Crescent 'B'.

Division three leaders Hospital Social Club lost their unbeaten record at Alice Hawthorn whose Richard Smith-James Allen were 5-4 match winners. Steve Simpson was in excellent form for Burton 'B' as they won 6-3, while Puss beat Indoor Bowls Club 7-2.

All outstanding matches must be played by Wednesday, July 17.
