YORK face the prospect of facing two international bowlers this weekend in an Oxbridge Yorkshire County Premier Cricket League double header.

England pace man Darren Gough is expected to try out his injured knee at Clifton Park tomorrow.

Now there are indications that spinner Richard Dawson has asked to be released from his contract at Bradford League Undercliffe so that he can return to home base at Doncaster.

His registration may go through in time for inclusion in the league leaders' line-up for York's visit Town Fields on Sunday.

York will be without skipper Nigel Durham and seamer Greg How for both encounters. Marcus Wood will skipper the side, John McGrady will take the gloves and young leg-spinner Tom Pringle returns after study leave. Ed Senneck has earned inclusion after a string of good performances in the second team.

Dave Catlow makes way for Senneck on Saturday, but is included in a 12-man squad for the trip to Doncaster on Sunday.

Scarborough's summer is rapidly falling apart after they were beaten by the Academy in the league last Sunday and crashed out of the National Club Championship to Guisborough in an evening thrash on Tuesday. They are at Rotherham tomorrow.

By contrast, third-placed Harrogate are on the crest of a wave, having demolished Rotherham last Saturday and shattered Quarndon in the National to set up an area final meeting at Hanging Heaton on June 30. They will expect to pick up victories at Barnsley tomorrow and at home to bottom club Driffield on Sunday.
