Rufforth Netball Club have found the right formula for success after their 'A' team won the 2001-02 York and District League division two title.

Rufforth only formed a side in 1995, and since then has grown in stature with the first team climbing up from the then-bottom division four up to the second division, while the 'B' and 'C' team tasted success last season with promotions of their own.

However, the club's leading side will nowbe competing in the top-flight, along with division two runners-up Rawcliffe 2, next season.

But if the success at Rufforth is to continue in division one then they most find some way past reigning champions Civil Service 1.

Despite an objection from challengers Ladybirds 'A', the matter was resolved by the league committee, with Civil Service taking the title and Rawcliffe 1 as runners-up.

Service, who were beaten this season for the first time since the mid-1980s, lost two players through the campaign through pregnancy.

Millers 'B' will be in division two next season after they won the third division in fine style, losing just the one match. British Telecom make an instant return to the second division having been relegated last time out.

Osbaldwick 4 secured their second championship in three years after the won the division four crown and joining them in climbing the standings will be Cock & Bottle.

Civil Service 5 make an instant return to the fourth division, having been relegated last year. Barlby 'B' took the division five runners-up spot.
