Sheriff Hutton Bridge head the first division of the Pilmoor Evening League after the latest round of fixtures.

The leaders were pushed all the way when they took on Tollerton, who reached 103-4 with Tony Raper making 32 and C Davis 35.

Craig Hunter was the mainstay of Bridge's reply with 49, but they had trouble with Raper, who claimed 2-16 and H Gill (2-20) before winning with four balls to spare.

Sessay kept up their challenge after a last-over home win against Thirsk whose Dean Bramley (29) and Mark Wainwright (21) helped their side to post 105-9. Youngster Richard Barker took 2-34 and Nick Harrison 3-24.

Sessay skipper Ian Watkinson hit his maiden 50 as Sessay took the points at 106-4.

There was another close game at the foot of the division where Alne scraped home at Huby who had reached 91-4 with Steven Piercy making 20 and Thomas Piercy 46.

Alne's Paul Floyd made 40 and Tom Ryder 22, and, despite losing wickets regularly to Chris Cundall (3-13) and Steven Piercy (3-10), Alne were victorious off the last ball at 92-8.

Easingwold had a good win at Crayke, where Adrian Leckenby (28), R Jones (25), and A Metcalfe (30) were their main scorers out of 97-8. Mike Pipes (4-11) and Norman Pipes (2-26) had the best returns for Crayke.

Crayke's batting faltered against Gavin Rees (2-15) and Paul Skilbeck (2-21) and they closed well short at 71-9.

In the second division leaders Stillington and Newburgh recorded victories.

Stillington batted first at Raskelf and were all out for 98, Will Reynolds taking 3-7.

Despite the lowly target the home batsmen, with the exception of Trevor Reynolds (21), never got to grips and they were all out for 41.

Helperby made 61-3 when they batted first at Newburgh, Dave Sowray being 33 not out. Newburgh then lost wickets to Maynard (2-15) and Spilman (2-14), but Rob Proudley made 20 and they were guided home by Stuart Pierse (27 no).

Clifton Alliance recorded their first victory of the season when they beat Sheriff Hutton by six wickets.

Sheriff set 84-5, Ben Tompkins top-scoring with 29, but Alliance took the points at 85-4, Simon Dwyer making 22. Youngster Joel Wilford (2-15) had the best return for Sheriff.
