A CRAZY England fan is so confident Sven's men will be "hard as nails" to beat against Brazil he is lying on a bed of them!

Michael Mime, from Bishophill, York, plans to meditate on top of 1,000 nails in Stonegate during the World Cup clash to send positive energy to the England team.

He will watch the match on a portable TV.

Michael, who is a regular street performer, is also painting a huge St George's flag on himself.

"There is nothing to stop a nail going through my boxer shorts if England score," he said, "But bums are very resilient!

"I'm very nervous about it and will have to really concentrate. It's quite painful but the meditation helps.

"My friends think I've lost it completely and need my head checking."

Michael made the six-foot bed of nails himself at home.

"I'm sending a positive, strong vibe to the players in the Far East," he added.

Fans in London will be able to watch England's World Cup quarter-final showdown against Brazil on a giant screen in Trafalgar Square.

Foreign exchange company Travelex is setting up the 32-metre square screen under the gaze of Lord Nelson to beam the game live from Shizuoka tomorrow.

Opera Babes Rebecca Knight and the aptly-named Karen England will sing the national anthem live before the kick-off at 7.30am UK time.

A Travelex spokesman said: "It's the first time any England match has been shown live in the square.
