JO Kraemer suffered the highs and lows of motor racing at the weekend - she put in her best qualifying performance to date on Saturday at Britain's fastest race track but the next day ended up in hospital after a big crash.
The 21-year-old York City Ladies Racing Team driver was taken to the local Accident and Emergency department as a precautionary measure after being knocked out in the impact. Fortunately, apart from suffering slight whiplash, she was otherwise unhurt and was back at the circuit in time to watch her championship's second race of the afternoon.
Kraemer was competing in rounds six and seven of the Elf Clio Renaultsport UK Cup at Thruxton, Hampshire, which is turning into a jinx circuit for her. Last time there, a wheel fell off her car on the opening lap. This time - with the track greasy following a truck race - she went off at the fifth corner of the fourth lap and hit the protective barriers at about 70mph.
Kraemer and the York City Ladies Racing Team - run by Boroughbridge-based Bintcliffe Sport Racing - are next in action at Brands Hatch in two weeks time.
