THE Rugby League has launched an investigation into alleged incidents involving a former York Wasps player during and after a Northern Ford Premiership game at Whitehaven.
Workington Police were reported to have arrested ex-Wasp winger Alex Godfrey, now the Hull Kingston Rovers fullback, in connection with an alleged assault on a Whitehaven player yesterday.
Hull Kingston Rovers chairman Wayne Smith claims that Mr Godfrey, who still lives in York, had been the victim of abuse.
A spokesman for Cumbria Police said Mr Godfrey was released on police bail pending further inquiries and due to reappear at Workington Police Station on July 29.
