AN 80-year-old lawnmower which was dumped in a skip has been renovated and will be auctioned off for charity.
City of York Council drainage and blacksmith manager, Glen Peters, bought the 1921 lawnmower for £10 after finding it in a skip. He set the council's motor fitters' department the challenge of renovating it so it could be auctioned off for his favourite charity - St Leonard's Hospice.
After three months' hard work the lawnmower is now as good as new and ready for a new home.
Mr Peters is planning to advertise the lawnmower on the internet and in the council's in-house magazine.
If anyone wants to put in an offer for the lawnmower they can contact Mr Peters on (01904) 553236.
