DIVISION six leaders New Earswick made a remarkable recovery to beat Wilberfoss by five runs.

Des Healey with 4-24 and Paul Jacques 5-42 had put Wilberfoss firmly in command as Earswick lost their first nine wickets for 36 runs, but Christian Soulsby (27no) found an ally in John Routledge and the last pair were able to add 46 precious runs.

Soulsby then turned in a brilliant bowling performance as he took 7-23 to bowl out a nine-man Wilberfoss side for 79.

Civil Service were bowled out for 55 when Thorp Arch successfully defended their score of 92.

Dave Kirman made 27 and took 6-14 for Thorp Arch, who were dismissed by John Winfield (3-21), Mike Thompson (3-48) and Andy Robinson (3-19).

Nick Thompson made 26 for Service but Kirman was backed by Graham Casey, who took 3-20 for The Arch.

Heslington II were dismissed for the lowest total of the season when they were all out for 23 against Stillington who knocked them off. Shaun Linton took four wickets.

Cawood's skipper Bob Paddison (68no) nursed his young side to 125-3, but it wasn't enough to stop Hovingham winning by seven wickets. Mark Hemmingway made 27, Mark Redhead 37 not out and Neil Thompson 34 not out.

An good all-round performance by Kevin Smith, who followed his 6-56 with 40, helped Stamford Bridge keep on course for promotion with an eight-wicket win at Londesbrough Park.

Simon Wilson made 41 in Park's 93 all out while Andy Parkinson backed Smith's batting with 26.
