THORP Arch & Boston Spa continue to set the pace in division five after their fifth victory at the expense of Carlton Towers.

Michael Linnecar was the Boston star, taking 3-19 and then making 31 as his team won by two wickets.

Jonathan Dilks made 42 when Carlton batted first but Linnecar combined with Steve Raine, who took 4-36 to peg Towers to 131-9.

Kevin Waites (3-54) and Steve Landers (3-38) hit back but Linnecar was able to do just enough to edge his side home.

John Reynolds (4-31) and Steve MacNamara (4-9) set Tadcaster Magnet on the way to a six-wicket triumph over Thirsk.

Andrew Chandler made 30 but Thirsk were only able to post an inadequate 95 all out. Richard Cattle then made 36 as Tadcaster kept up their promotion challenge.

Two of Malton's more experienced campaigners played leading roles in their five-wicket win at Pocklington.

Home batsman Peter Powell made 34 but Jim Dawson Snr took 6-34, as he and John Tildsley 3-33 had the hosts all out for 113.

Veteran batsman John Foxton then continued his run of good scores with 52 while Chris Smith made 34 not out.

Entertaining Rowntree, Bolton Percy lost both their openers for ducks and their problems continued as half the side were dismissed for 41, but Henry Houseman played a classy inning of 58 to see the score tick over to 113-9. Tony Edwards bowled the full 23-over stint for figures of 4-45, with Will Burns adding 3-32.

Rowntree opener Alan Roberts reached an unbeaten 38 as he and Keith Burrows (26no), took their side to a seven-wicket win against a Bolton attack which was weakened when Houseman tore his hamstring after bowling just three searching overs.

Sessay are still searching for their first win of the season after losing the relegation clash with Selby by three wickets.

Sessay made a reasonable 164-4 thanks to Mark Shuttleworth (53), Phil Hodgson (38no) and Stuart Robinson (27).

Richard Firth responded with 70 for Selby and, with Gareth Roberts making 44 and James Still 30 Selby reached their target for the loss of seven wickets despite Ian Watkinson's 3-55 and Nick Thorne's 3-36.
