THE battle of Stamford Bridge between the top two teams in division two resulted in visiting Tadcaster Magnet leapfrogging over their hosts into top spot after a resounding 96-run win.

Russ Parker made 67 as Magnet collected 181-6. Graham Tipping then made 34 for the Derwent Valley side but former Bramham player Paul Clark had Stamford all out for 85 as he took 5-46.

Castleford have hit rock bottom after losing their eighth game against relegation rivals Bubwith.

Neal Readman made 38 in a Bubwith's score of 173-7. Paul Hursthouse then made 45 when the home side replied but Castleford crumbled to 119 all out in face of Charlie Cameron's 3-43 and Mal Walker 4-13.

Hornsea were easy winners after their clash with Bridlington.

John McKenzie took 5-25 and Doug Griebenhouw 3-11 as Bridlington were all out for 91. Richard Webster then ensured victory with 51 not out in Hornsea's total of 92-3.

Julian Atkinson made 41 in as Wilberfoss slumped to defeat against Scarborough.

Atkinson had little back up from his colleagues as Robert Harrison 4-47, Neil Fletcher 3-39 and Will Mallory 3-23 bowled 'Foss out for 122.

Scarborough's Philip Seed (52no) and David Morris (47no) knocked off the runs without mishap.

Malton & Old Malton went on to claim the full quota of 30 points by beating Clifton Alliance by 94 runs.

Aussie Ben Nicholson was dismissed just two short of his century but Malton's momentum was kept alive by brothers Neil Johnson (49) and Greg Johnson (41no) until a declaration was made after 41 overs with Malton on 227-2.

Wayne Dawson then ensured a home victory with 4-29 with only Paul Atkinson (28) making any progress with the bat as Clifton slipped to 133 all out.

Like near-neighbours Ripon, Studley Royal's ground was waterlogged and their clash with Harrogate was called off without a ball being bowled.
