THE clash between the division one promotion rivals at Carlton Towers saw the home side lose their unbeaten record when Whitkirk squeezed to a two-wicket victory.

Carlton found Darren Grey too hot to handle as he captured 6-36 and, with Matt O'Brien backing him with 3-49, they were skittled for 109.

Carlton did hit back via Kashif Siddique, who grabbed 4-26, and Paul Wright, who took 3-36, but Craig Shipton produced a match-winning 55 to help Whitkirk to victory.

Ripon slipped out of second when their home game against Sessay was cancelled due to the waterlogged state of the ground.

A similar situation occurred at Hull Zingari, where Goole Town were the scheduled visitors. It is possible there was a third casualty in the division as there has been no result from the Stillington and Duncombe Park game.

Crayke's Dawson brothers, Graeme and Andrew, combined to put on 117 runs for the first wicket to set their side en route to an eight-wicket win.

Driffield had been turned over for 135, with 17-year-old Chris Chapman making 35 and Joe Dewhirst 26 as Mick Pipes claimed 3-16.

Graeme Dawson then made 53 and brother Andrew 54 as Crayke cemented their mid-table ranking.

Dringhouses dismal season continued when they were soundly beaten by a York side who emerged with an eight-wicket advantage.

Chris Evans (36) was the sole home batsman to show any form as Richard Carroll captured 5-33. Kent Stone then hit a neat half-century and Ed Sennick completed the job with an unbeaten 33.
