Bishopthorpe extracted quick revenge for last week's league defeat at York Post Office to progress to the semi-final of the Horwath Pulleyn Heselton Cup.

Burn will play York in the second semi after their close win at Norwich Union.

Askham Bryan ran up a massive 256-5 but were made to hang on grimly before beating Burton Salmon by just 13 runs in the Scothern Construction Cup.

Their opponents in the semi-final will be Escrick Park, who beat Burn by 47 runs.

The other semi-final will be between Stillingfleet, who beat local rivals Kelfield by 29 runs in a low-scoring game, and Tollerton Outlaws, who beat Wistow.

Only two games were played in the first round of the Guy Mitchell Cup, where Stamford Bridge had too much class for Fulfordgate and Clifton Alliance were too strong for Wheldrake.

Woodhouse Grange cast aside miserable league results to beat Stockton & Hopgrove and progress to the second round of the Prendergast Memorial Trophy.

Selby surprised York, winning by 34 runs, but no surprises at Thorpe Willoughby, who beat Wheldrake by seven wickets.

Tadcaster Magnet have batted well all season but have been let down by the bowling but Saturday they came good defeating Heworth by 90 runs.

- The mid-season cricket ground-caring course to be held at Stamford Bridge Cricket Club on June 23 is being run by the York Vale League and not as published in Saturday's Evening Press.
