TEENAGERS from a York school are to tackle an Army assault course to raise funds in memory of classmate Jamie Bucknell.
The 30 pupils are all members of Huntington School's Year Ten English group
Teacher Jane Allen said they are "a very close group", who wanted to place a permanent memorial to Jamie at the school.
So they chose to take on the assault course at the Queen Elizabeth Barracks, in Strensall, near to Jamie's home.
Miss Allen said: "It will be a sponsored event, and when we have a final total we will decide on what the memorial will be.
"Jamie was held in such a high regard by the others, they all wanted to do something.
Obstacles on the course include 6ft and 8ft-high walls, a single plank bridge suspended by rope and a crawl through pipe. Lieutenant Colonel Steve Pickles, based at the QE Barracks, said: "It is a tough course, the one used by professional soldiers."
Jamie died at school last November after suffering a massive heart attack in class. The group is due to tackle the assault course on May 17 and is collecting sponsorship now. Sponsor forms are available at the school. For more information ring Miss Allen on 01904 752100.
