PEOPLE who use Arriva buses during peak times will see their fares rise next month.
Arriva Yorkshire has announced that certain fares during peak times on its North Yorkshire and East Riding services will increase by an average of 10p from Monday, May 6. Value tickets will also increase on average by 10p.
But there is good news for pet owners - dogs will not face a charge of any kind.
Arriva claims the changes reflect increased inflation costs and the need for continued investment.
Tickets priced up to 90p will remain unchanged. But fares from £1 in North Yorkshire and East Riding will each increase by ten pence.
Child fares in the region will also increase by 5p on any fare over 45p.
A Value ticket in North Yorkshire will now cost £3.20 for adults and £1.60 for children.
In Selby, a Value Xtra ticket will be priced at £1.60 for adults. Children will pay 80p.
An Arriva spokeswoman said: "Value tickets increase by an average of 10p. Dogs travel free!"
Neale Wallace, Arriva Yorkshire managing director, said: "We have reviewed fares across Yorkshire and have raised some peak fares and value tickets by an average of 10p.
"Every transport services organisation has a responsibility to operate an efficient and robust network that allows for investment and future growth and we believe this fare review will help us to achieve these ends."
Information about fare changes will be displayed on the buses and in notices and explanatory leaflets.
