A WOMAN was seriously injured in a three-vehicle crash in North Yorkshire early today.
Firefighters were called out to free the driver who was trapped in her Nissan Micra on the A169 Malton to Pickering road north of the A64 interchange.
The drivers of a Ford van and Renault 19 also involved in the collision were not believed to be seriously injured.
A fire engine arriving at the scene skidded off the road and down an embankment, although it is not yet known how much damage was caused to the vehicle.
The driver was taken to hospital for a check-up but was not thought to have been seriously hurt.
A spokesman for North Yorkshire Police said the A169 was blocked by the incident and traffic diversions would be in place for some time.
