WERE I York's infamous son Guy Fawkes, I might well feel gutted on reading your leader comment about his gunpowder allegedly being found by curators in the British Museum (March 22).
The gunpowder referred to was, in fact, found in the British Library at its new St Pancras building.
The find was among papers belonging to the famous diarist John Evelyn which the library had recently acquired.
Some of our most famous exhibits are on display in public galleries - where we hope to place the gunpowder in due course.
