NERVES were held to leave York College basketball team high and mighty.
The College corps claimed the north-east region championship after fending off a spirited challenge from rivals Doncaster, whom they eventually beat 77-69 in the final at the Yorkshire Coast College in Scarborough.
Enthused York College sports lecturer Jamie Rank: "It was a great achievement to win the tournament as the team finished fourth in the merit league and then grew from strength to strength in the knockout phases culminating in an exciting final."
