New Earswick Swimming Club have marked the long service of their leading official with a special presentation.
David Dorman has stepped aside after 17 years helping to run the club, first as treasurer and then as chairman for the past two and a half years. He was presented with a crystal vase after the club's annual meeting.
His connection with the club began when he moved to the area 19 years ago and his children took up swimming. All three - Peter Richard, and Jennifer - have swum competitively for New Earswick since then.
"Although I have stepped down as an official I will keep my link with the club and help out when needed," he said. "The most significant change I have noticed is the renewed enthusiasm of members. New people have been joining the club with new ideas."
