THE tattooed body of a dead man found outside a Doncaster pub could come from York, police have revealed.
Investigators have been unable to identify the man who was found outside The Vine pub, Kelham Street, Doncaster.
The pub is a popular meeting place for homosexual men from around the Yorkshire area.
A rail ticket found in the man's pocket suggested he had recently travelled from Newcastle to York and he also held an open return ticket issued in London.
A spokesman for South Yorkshire Police said officers believe the dead man may live in York or have recently visited the city.
A post mortem examination of the body, which was found at about 5am on Saturday, has not been able to determine the cause of death.
Police officers believe the man left the pub between 1am and 2am and are investigating what happened to him between then and the discovery of his body.
The body has a number of distinctive tattoos, including a sun and crescent moon with a Celtic scrawl above and below on the upper right arm.
On the man's upper left arm is an image of the grim reaper playing a red guitar below a man playing a guitar in the shape of a musical clef.
The man was wearing a salmon pink shirt, blue-green vest, a dark suit jacket, grey Levi jeans and black lace-up shoes.
Anyone with information is asked to contact South Yorkshire Police on 0114 2202020.
