BAFFLED and angry summed up the mood of York City boss Terry Dolan after he saw his side's five-match unbeaten run brought to an end by a 1-0 defeat by Scunthorpe, writes Tony Curtis.
Dolan was left fuming by a number of decisions by referee Colin Webster - including the build-up to the goal -which he felt cost his side a deserved point after a battling display.
And it took all of his self-control at the post-match press conference to keep himself from blowing his top with the man in black.
"It is very disappointing and I can't say much more than that really," he said. "I thought we defended well and deserved to leave with a 0-0 draw.
"Russ Howarth was blocked on the goal-line for about the sixth time, the referee has done nothing about it and they have scored.
"I think it is best that I keep my thoughts on the referee to myself.
"You will have to ask him about half of his decisions because I was just baffled by them.
"We should be here now talking about the tremendous end to the season we have had, but instead we are talking about those decisions."
The bookings of Darren Edmondson for diving and Lee Nogan for dissent further added to Dolan's fury.
"The booking of Darren Edmondson was the first of the strange decisions," said Dolan.
"Beagrie got his arm right across the face of Darren and Darren tried to show the referee the blood on his mouth, but he got booked. It was crazy.
"Then Lee Nogan has been done for dissent for pointing out someone had a head injury."
Dolan was in no doubt that his side had worked hard enough for the point after frustrating the play-off hopes of Scunthorpe and he was full of praise for his young stars.
"We didn't play as well as we could, but I thought we did deserve to draw, but it wasn't to be," he said. "It was up to Scunthorpe to put the pressire on us to try and get the play-off place, and it was a different type of game for our younger players to come through, but they stood up to the task."
