GUNS fired out a birthday tribute to the Queen in York today.
The royal's 76th birthday actually took place yesterday, but it was at noon today that a battery of 21 ceremonial field guns marked the event in Museum Gardens.
It was one of the last times these guns will be used for such a tribute, as the Army's 25 pounders are being phased out and replaced with 105mm light guns.
The occasion saw the King's Division Waterloo Band perform a recital in St Sampson's Square, before marching through the city centre.
The salute was taken by the Lord Mayor of York, Coun Irene Waudby, and hosted by the city's Army commander, Brigadier Andrew Farquhar.
Coun Waudby and Brigadier Farquhar inspected the troops and band after the salute.
