SUPPORTERS Direct, the body which helped York City fans form a Supporters Trust, may come to the aid of York Wasps fans too.
Following representations from York MP Hugh Bayley, Sports Minister Dick Caborn MP is considering broadening the remit of Supporters Direct to include rugby league.
Bayley has also met Supporters Direct official Andy Burnham, who has promised to help the Wasps. Although they are unable to give any financial assistance at the moment - the body is funded by the football pools so can only offer help to football clubs - Supporters Direct are offering advice on setting up a Supporters Trust.
Bayley said: "Supporters Direct were able to give a lot of good advice and support to York City Supporters Trust. Rugby league is as important in York as soccer and I am pleased the Wasps are going to be able to benefit from advice from Supporters Direct too."
